Kelly’s Directories 1877/1890

Hugh

Just a couple of entries that I can find :

1890 [only]

Potton…there is a George WINTERS, beer retailer, Bull Street,

1877 / 1890

Biggleswade…David Paine WINTERS, farmer, Stratton Park farm

Kelly’s appears to list gentry, farmers/tradesmen and public officials but other people [who work for others] arent listed as a rule

I looked in the Muster Lists [Bedfordshire Muster Rolls, 1539-1831edited by Nigel Lutt, vol 71 (1992) £15] and found just one entry in there:
In Dunton cum Millo [in the Biggleswade Hundred]: William WINTERS was enrolled in the County Militia, he was chosen by lot in Feb 1763

1851 census index:

Dunton: WINTERS all on page 6:

Betsey, age 10 born Dunton
George, age7 born Dunton
Samuel, age 51 born Dunton
Samuel, age 15 born Dunton
Sarah, age 16 born Potton
Susan, age 18 born Dunton
Thomas, age 60 born Potton
Thomas, age13 born Dunton

Potton;
page 22:
